Theme: Domain Oriented Cost Modeling

The USC Center for Systems and Software Engineering will hold its annual Forum on Systems, Software, and COCOMO Cost Modeling at USC during the first week in November. The Forum theme this year encourages investigation of the relationships between cost modeling and problem domains including theories, models, empirical results, and best practices. In addition, we plan to conduct workshops based on work we are doing for the DoD-Stevens-USC Systems Engineering Research Center as well as COSYSMO.

Topics of interest include concepts and data related to usage, analysis, and improvement of the COCOMO suite of models and any other cost models; innovative ways of applying cost models; impacts on planning and tailoring of engineering processes; model scalability; model integration experiences; schedule estimation; risk management; modeling and estimation as it relates to agile methods, COTS integration, or architectural approaches such as service-oriented architectures; models for addressing software quality and security issues; and value-based approaches. The COCOMO Forum is a venue for presenting data from PhD students, faculty, other academic researchers, and industry and government affiliates who describe emerging ideas as well as more mature concepts. We encourage abstract submissions addressing this wide spectrum of interest as well as tool demonstration proposals that will lead to lively exchanges of ideas.
